Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I was married for almost 19 yrs, separted for a few months. Of course my ex swore there was no one else but of course there was. He has been living with her. My question is do I have the right to meet this woman if she is around my son on a weekly basis. Sleeping under the same roof and she has even been in her care without my ex there. I have asked him nicely and he keeps refusing which makes me more concerned. I think I have a right as a 6 yr olds Mom to know where and who he is spending time with. And I had to hear it from my son,and no less he told my son not to even tell me which made me more upset. Thankyou

I think you should sit down with an attorney and discuss this issue and all of the other issues in your case. Why haven't you filed for divorce yet? What can you hope to gain by waiting? Feel free to call me at 732/773/2768 to discuss.

You have the right to know what people your son is around when the father has your son. To enforce this right you will have to file papers with the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Call me if you like.

Let me understand this: 19 year marriage. that is definitely considered a long term marriage. that is important for purposes of alimony and also for division of property.

But that is not your question. Your soon to be exhusband has a girlfriend. You want to know that your son is safe around her. That makes sense. You do not have the right to meet her, but you have the right to make sure that your son is safe.

You need the help of an experienced divorce attorney. Give me a call, come in and see me, and we will go over your legal rights and your options.
