Can you please tell me what a MEDIATOR is in relation to a child custody hearing?

Re: Mediator
Hi,
A mediator is an impartial trained person who tries to help resolve custody and visitation issues. This is non-binding, but usually a step the court will recommend if the parties cannot agree. You also can agree, without a Court, to mediation to try to resolve these issues.
Important: Any information provided is offered for discussion purposes only. It may not apply to your specific factual situation or jurisdiction and cannot be relied upon without the advice of your own counsel. This communication does not create a client-attorney or any other client-professional relationship, and no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Re: Mediator
Mediation is used in a divorce context to attempt to resolve child custody and visitation issues in a non binding context, if the parties can not agree.
