Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

medical care of a minor child

My 15 year old daughter lives in New Jersey with her mother. I live in upstate New York. recently my daughter was seen by a psychiatrist and he had called me to get my background info and my thoughts and feelings. I had called him to find out how he made out but he told me that my ex wife had requested that NO information be given to me at all and if I requested any that I would have to go through her. Can she do this??? I pay child support and have visitation, she has custody.

You need to have joint custody to have access to medical/psychiatric information. Perhaps she has residential custody and you have joint custody. It is a matter of what

the court order says. You can apply to the Court for access to medical/psychiatric/educational records.
