Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Medical insurance

I was divorced in New Jersey and currently live in Virginia. In my property settlement of the divorce, he was responsible for providing health insurance for our son. For the last 2 years, he hasn't had a job until recently, so I have been providing health insurance. His new job does not provide insurance because he only works 2 days a week. (Just enough for child support, so he says). What can I do legally to get back what I paid for the last 2 years and enforce the order? What chance do I have for being reimbursed? I now do not have a well paying job or an insurance plan available through work. I have a private plan that is 260.00 a month for my son and I. This is more than I can afford, but my son can't be without health insurance. His father is still not providing any or even contributing. I know his insurance in NJ probably wouldn't cover VA, but can the judge rewrite the order to state that he should at least contribute if not pay for his coverage here? Thanks.

Re: Medical insurance

You would be well advised to consult the attorney who presumably represented you in your New Jersey

divorce matter to see what actions could now be reasonably undertaken to enforce whatever parts of the order are not now being complied with by your former husband.
