Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Need Middlesex County Emancipation Lawyer
My husband gave me the job to find lawyer for emancipation of his 2 kids who are 21, and 18 in August. He has been paying through garnishment for almost 14 yrs. He has NEVER been allowed to see or speak to his children in the whole 14 yrs. Not by the court's order, by the ex-wife. Court papers say he has joint custody... He never even recieved a school picture in those 14 yrs. So, we recently moved to NC because ,well, we just couldn't afford it anymore. My husband has 2 other children with me that the court does not know about. We need to emancipate and move on. So, I don't know how this is going to work being that we are in NC. I have all divorce papers, and agreements. Just need the lawyer.

Re: Need Middlesex County Emancipation Lawyer
My office is located in Gloucester County so it appears the other lawyer's office is best. However, if for some reason things do not work out there I am willing to travel. You should note that in NJ mere reaching 18 years does not constitute grounds for emancipation but it's certainly worth looking into with a lawyer. If for some reason, there is no emancipation--which we hope ther will be---the fact that you and he have two other children could and probably would lower the support. If both of his first two children are out of high school, working, married, in the service, etc, and no longer full time students you will have a greater likelihood of success. Best of luck!
