Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

getting the money

my girlfriend and her ex boyfriend were together for about 17 years..they never married..they puchased a home together with both names on the deed.. she left him in july 2003..they agreed that he would buy her out of her half the house..she hasn't persued this and i'm concerned that if she waits too long, he might be able to claim abandonment or something and she gets nothing.. her drivers license still has the old address so she feels that she can say she still is a principal of the residence.. her name is still on the deed.. my question is: is there a statute of limitations or any kind of time frame that may cause her to lose her money?

The old saying is that he (or she) who hesitates is lost. With the passage of time situations past. A willing co-owner may have a change of circumstances which will change everything. Tell her to attend to her business NOW.

I have read what the other attorneys said.

This situation should be taken care of now. And why are YOU writing? why is SHE not taking care of this?

she should get a lawyer, figure out what her options are, and take action NOW!!

Re: getting the money

I agree with Mr. Moore, she needs to move on this now. Furthermore, I suggest she at least see an attorney to handle this case. Even though she left, her name is still on the deed so it is her house. However, she is not permitted to "sit" on her rights.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 and we can discuss her case.
