Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

moving out of state

I have joint custody of my son with my now seperated husband. My son lives with me and I wish to relocate to Virginia for reasons of cheaper living expenses schools. He does have overnight stays with his dad every other weeken and alternate holidays. I have family in virginia willing to help in this relocating and i have family in my present state that i live that when he comes for visits with his father i stay with them. I don't intend on keeping him away from his father because of the relationship between them. I have never denied him his son even through the hard times he has given me and dealing with him not paying the support. How do i go about doing this as far as court is concern?
