nj adopted father terminating paternal rights to twin 18 year old boys

nj man adopted the twin sons of his

first wife and the marriage ended in

divorce 15 years later.The boys are

18, the nj man and ex-wife are

remarried, and there is no

relationship between the twins and

the adopted father so he wishes to

voluntarily terminate his parental

rights and to also cease child support

to them. Can it be done?

Adoption is a serious matter. The adoptive father's name is placed on the birth certificates of the children as their father. Think about that.

No, no one can terminate parental rights on their own to end child support. Only a court order can do that by way of emancipation. I suggest you call an attorney that handles these issues.
