Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

NJ Divorce question

My wife and I have been living apart separately for eight years after 20 yrs of marriage. Our children are grown, and we have split all of our assets except for the house, and retirement accounts. We are trying to come to agreement on our home that we own jointly, (she lives in it and wants to buy me out), and on our legal obligations as far as retirement accounts. we intend to try and do our own divorce. Are we legally required to split any retirement money or savings that we have saved individually since we separated, or can we just divide the retirement money in our accounts that was accumulated while we lived together as a couple?

You can settle your case however you want to. However, I think doing this without an attorney is crazy.

You really need to get some help from an attorney. You are likely to cause problems for yourself (and for her) in ways you do not even know about.

If you came to my office, I would agree to represent you and put an agreement together for you settling all the issues. I would then get the divorce through the courts.

Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and let's get moving on this for you. No charge for the telephone call and no charge for the first office visit.
