Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Non payment of child support

I previously went to court, I was granted permission to relocate and also upward modifaction in my daughter's child support. The NJ court has taken jurisdiction of this case for a year. The judge advised the non-custodial, which is a cop in that county where the order was established, that it is his responsibility to pay the child support order until garnishment has been arranged. It has been a month and my child has not received one payment, can I file a complaint, for him being in contempt? At what point does child support enforcement decide that is time for him to take financial responsibility for his child? What are my rights?? How long does this go on before any action is taken against him?

I suggest you call up the probation department and see what they can do for you.

You can file a motion to enforce the support order including requesting that he be held in contempt.
