Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

non-biological grandchildren

My daughter married a man who was previously married and has a 7 year old. This child has been in our lives since he was 18 mos. old. He is 1 of 9 grandchildren for me. My son in law has full custody of him with the biological mother getting visitation rights. My daughter and her husband are having problems and may divorce. What are my daughter's and my rights to this child.

Re: non-biological grandchildren

Unfortunately grandparent visitation is becoming increasing difficult in New Jersey.

That being said, a Court will always do what is in the best interest of child. If your daughter has had an active interest in his life then she should be entitled to some visitation.
