Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Am I being paranoid?
Husband wants to put house is my name and we're just getting back with our marriage after almost divorcing. He says it's because of the IRS after him and one of his businesses. He also has land. I just think that would be a stupid mistake on his part because we are still not that great about our marriage. I don't know if he's doing this because of another reason. Do you have any idea. I'm also a stay at home mom with 4 kids and married for 13yrs.

It is impossible to tell with this little information as to exactly what is going on.
There are a lot of things that could go wrong, but I can not tell.
Simply putting the house in your name...not sure that really helps nor hurts.
It would make a lot of sense for him to see a lawyer. He has some kind of problems.
It might also make sense for you to see an attorney, to do a little planning, for your own protection and for your kids.

Re: Am I being paranoid?
Yes. Putting the house in your name does not change his entitlement in a divorce to half of the equity in the house but it may place it beyond the reach of the IRS since your husband is the one who works and owes the taxes and you work in the house only and are what is known as the "innocent spouse."
