Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Can parents legally throw out a 18 yr old child who still attends High School (senior yr) This has happen to my daughters boyfriend, Parents having marital problems. Think there may be alcohol issues in the home with the parents. I think the father is abusive with the mother. The boy is not in trouble, good kid, Went to football camp for a week came home and father threw him out over a cell phone bill argument.
