Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Pay Docking for Child Support

My ex-husband pays child support on a monthly basis, he has a great job and has been there for 20years so there is no financial issue; however, he likes to hold the check until I ask for it or until He picks his son up. He does this so I have to face him and he becomes abusive in front of my son. Can I have his pay docked for child support, so I don't have to go through this humiliation every month? If the answer is yes, where do I go? Thanks for your time.

Re: Pay Docking for Child Support

What you want is a garnishment against his pay. You need to go to the Family Court Intake Unit at the courthouse in your county and tell them you are having trouble collecting your child support and therefore you want a court order for child support garnishment. You will need the name, address and telephone number of your ex husband's employer. They will guide you through the process. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 856-546-8010. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
