Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Paying for college as a non-custodial parent.
Am I obligated to pay towards my child's college expenses if she is living with her mother? What is her mother required to pay towards college for our child who lives with me? My ex-wife lives in Middlesex county; I live in Monmouth county.

If you are saying that you are paying for all of the college expenses of the child who lives with you it makes sense that the mother would pay all of the college related expenses of the child who lives with her, assumming that the college expenses of each child are roughly equal and assuming that the mother's income and your income are roughly equal.
Otherwise, you might give me a call if you care to. In any event the parents are obligated to pay
for the college expenses of their children, after all sources of financial aid are use, in accordance with their abilies to pay and in porportion with their individual share to their joint incomes.

This is a real hot topic right now. I must have about half a dozen motions regarding college costs. You are in a rare situation where the children are split between the two houses. In order to give you a good answer, I would need more information. I'd really like to know what the entire family relationship is like and if the children are already in college, what the property settlement agreement says, etc.
My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 and we can discuss your situation. If you call me today (sunday) leave a message and I'll call you right back. Otherwise, I'll be in my office during the week.
Good luck!
