Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Regarding the payment of child support

Do I still need to pay child support if the mother of the child does not retain custody of the child and is not the child's primary support figure?

I was paying child support for the child to the mother until dyfus removed the child from the mother's custody.

The child is now in the custody of Dyfus and in the care the grandparents of the mother (I have no legal custody of the child nor would I like custody of the child). Dyfus wants me to continue paying child support for the child.

Do I have any legal grounds to have the child support payments cancelled or suspended until the mother regains custody of the child?

Any help would be greatly appreciated in navigating this tricky situation.

Re: Regarding the payment of child support

I can not give you legal advice on this.

That is your child. Act like the child's father. Be a father, care for the child, spend time, effort and money on your child.

And pay the cost of raising that child.

Do you think the money to feed, cloth and raise that child should be paid by the baby's grandparents? by the government?

Be a man. Be a father. Shame on you.
