Payroll deductions

What is the legal percentage an employer can deduct from an individuals paycheck to meet a child support order? How is the limit calculated for more than one Child Support order?

Re: Payroll deductions

In my experience, they deduct whatever the amount is. Its a wage garnishment from probation. I've never heard of a situation where there would be a limit.

It really doesn't make any sense actually. You have to pay X per week anyway. How it comes shouldn't really matter, right? If you make $100 and your child support is also $100, but they only take out $80 then you still owe $20. If you don't pay, an arrears amount will build which will eventually impact your credit and then lead to your arrest.

Up to half of your paycheck can be taken for child support. Call me if you like.
