Is permanent alimony permanent?

In NJ is the term "permanent alimony" actually permanent?

Permanent is not forever.

Permanent alimony in NJ is actually best applied to an entitlement, rather than an obligation. Many things can end permanent alimony, or more important to a living payor, modify such obligation substantially. generally, permanent alimony is subject to modification upon a good faith retirement, which modification often times leads to termination.
