Power of Attorney for Care and Custody of Child for Brother's Child
I have a brother who is going to jail. He has a minor child (5 years old) and is divorced from the mother of the child. The child's mother lives in Italy and my brother was responsible for the child's custody.
Obviously, my brother will not be able to have custody of the child and has agreed to give me custody until he gets out of jail (approx 6 years from now).
What forms do I need him to sign to estabilsh custody? (Power of Attorney?, Temporary Custody Forms?) and where can I get these forms. Also, are there any time limits associated with these forms? Finally, what are the pitfalls with respect to the relevent forms needed?

Re: Power of Attorney for Care and Custody of Child for Brother's Child
It's not just a matter of filing forms. Custody is a very important matter and needs to be dealt with appropriately. I have no simple answer for you. Before you take any action, you should contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be able to rely on the advice. I will be happy to assist you. However, you need to call me at 856-546-8010. If you mention LawGuru, there will be no charge for your first consultation. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
