How can I get proof of income
I went to court several months ago to determine Child Support (I was the defendant not the plaintiff) and although unemployed was ordered to pay. I am now being garnished for arrears eventhough I have not started working. Judge stated I would start paying once I began working and wages would be garnished. However, I have a strong feeling my ex makes significantly more than claimed in court that day. I know this because according to the income that was claimed it is significantly lower than what was making when we met almost 9 year ago. And has not downsized way of living, in fact has new cars, home, etc. How can I go about getting financial records to prove this to present to court?

This often happens when you go to court without an attorney. I suggest you speak with one before you do anything else on this case.

Child support is not based on your income, solely. Otherwise, your children could starve to death because you lost your job. You are expected to take care of your children. BOTH parents are expected to contribute to the support of their children.
You can file a motion with the Court to obtain the financial records of the other parent based on a lifestyle which could not be supported on what the other parent claims as income, but if the other parent earns $500,000 a year your child support obligation will change little because the more the parents earn the better the children are expected to be supported.
