Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Public Defendant Change

I feel that my son's public defendent is not representing him effectivly. The public defendant does not challenge lies made against him and all of his advice has been costly and futile. If I write a letter to request a change of public defendants to another one i was referred to, what are the chances that my request will be honored? Also, will the present public defendant know that I have requested a change. I don't want to write the letter and have it denied and the current public defendant offended. But i cannot afford a lawyer and the public defendent's carefree attidute and lack of preparation will effect the rest of my young son's life. Should I write the letter and if so do you have any advise on how to proceed?

Re: Public Defendant Change

Your son seems to be in the middle of a trial. If that is the case it is a bit late to change attorneys. I do not

know what you can pay but you could call me to discuss what you can pay.

Re: Public Defendant Change

I can't see how anyone on this site can predict what will happen in this case. If your son is not happy, he should be the one that makes this known unless your son in a juvenile. How do you know you can't afford an attorney? Do you have access to a credit card? Can you refi your house? Can you borrow any money or sell anything? You might not be able to afford some attorneys, but you might be able to afford someone.
