Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Hi,

My question is about emancipation in New Jersey. I am 21, a full time student, and fully support myself. I recently moved out of my parents' house. I have my own car, as well as my own car and health insurance. Moreover, my parents do not claim me as a dependent and I file my taxes as an independent. I am a full time student, and although I have no financial ties to my parents, I am not able to file FAFSA without them. The problem is that they make too much money to qualify me for financial aid, however, they do not contribute to my college tution. I was wondering if I can file for emancipation (eventhough I am not a minor) so that I will be able to file FAFSA by myself and recieve more support for my tution.

Thanks.

You should be able to file as an independent person, based on what you have written. Why is FAFSA not letting you file as independent? Call me if you want a lawyer to assist you.
