Reduction in child support payments

My income has been reduced substantially from the time support payments were first established.Now that my income is lower.Can my child support payments be reduced?

It is sometimes possible to lessen the amount of child support payments due to changed circumstances such as a decrease in the supporting parent's income. How the courts treat your request will depend on many factors, including, but not limited to the following:

whether the reduction was voluntary or involuntary;

whether the reduction was "foreseeable";

whether the reduction is "temporary" or "permanent";

whether the support obligation was pursuant to court order or agreement of the parties; and

good faith of the request.
