Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

reinstatement of child support

My son's mother signed an agreement to terminate child support and medical coverage for my son if I let her take him to another state to live, that was 18 months ago. The mediator signed off on it and everything was stopped she has now moved back to the area and I think she is going to try to reverse the above agreement. Neither she nor her new husband are working. Can she do this?

Re: reinstatement of child support

She can try. If she took it to Court, it would be up to a Judge to determine the validity of the Agreement and, ulitmately, what would be in the best interest of the child. Keep in mind that this advice is based purely on the little bit ofinformation that you have given to me. There certainly may be other factors that would change my opinion. Further, no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. Since it appears that you have not retained an attorney, you may want to contact an attorney (either me or someone else) to discuss your matter in more detail. Only then will you be

able to rely on the advice. If you call me, [856-546-8010] mention Law Guru and your first one hour consultation will be free. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
