Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My ex wants to relinquish his rights so my husband can adopt my 10 year old. We live in NJ. How can we go about doing that? Are there forms that we can fill out or do we have to hire lawyers?

You would have to file an adoption petition, indicating that the father does not object. You would still have to serve the father with the filed petition to afford him the opportunity to object, as is required by the court rules.
