Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Relocation inside the same state

My Ex & I share joint custody of our 12 yr old daughter. I am the custodial parent. I recently told him that I want to move out of county. Once I mentioned it was with my boyfriend he filed a reasonable cause motion to keep our daughter in the county. One reason is changing schools late in the year. The judge delayed our move of 3/28 till the court date of 4/3. Is there a way to move the date closer b/c of loosing our apartment? Can he really stop us from moving? I was told that i can move as long as it is in-state.
