Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Relocation
I am trying to relocate out of state.I have a 2 year old with my ex and a 5 year old from a previous relationship.we seperated 2 months ago(never married) we moved here to NJ 8 months ago. I have a part time job here. All my family is in VA.We actually met there and he moved me and the children here.I filled a motion with the court to relocate/child ssupport and custody. We went to court over Restraining orders and his attorney made an agreement for me to live in the home.Which we just purchased 4 months ago.(my name is on nothing) me to be allowed to drive the car and me being the PPR and him PAR.He gets visitation every other weekend and every other tuesday-Thursday. I already have a job in VA waiting for me which is full time. He is living with his parents 30 minutes away and his parents have been harassing me by coming to my home at 830 at night ,parking on the street corner waiting for me to turn lights on,sent a cop to my job and getting phone numbers out of my car and calling them asking if my children are with them.I am not a bad mother and they know this they are just pissed tha I am trying to leave the state. What do you think my chances are of relocating?I cannot afford to live here in NJ and I have family support in VA

Re: Relocation
Its a tough call. An attorney would need a lot more info to give you a good opinion. It also depends on how the case is presented. I suggest you at least speak with an attorney before doing anything.

If you properly present your reasons for moving you should have no problem getting the Court's permission.
