Remarriage and Child Support

When a divorced parent (of alternate residence) remarries, is the new spouse--name removed--income included for purposes of calculating child support, or is it only the payor--name removed--income that is used?

Re: Remarriage and Child Support

The new spouse has no child support obligation and

the new spouse's income should not be considered.

Re: Remarriage and Child Support

If the parent with the support obligation has children with the new spouse, and as a result, seeks to have a diminished support obligation to the child from the prior relationship, then the new spouse's income, if any, may have to be taken into account in the child support calculation.
