Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
removal of child from home
My daughter has been involved with DYS in New Jersey for over a year and recently got her 3 yr old daughter back in her home. This Sat the child was in my home(grandma). A neighbor reported that my daughter was drinking the night before and DYS came to remove child from her the mother's home.(inNewton)(child not there) an emergency removal with no court order was made from my home.(In Vernon) Paperwork had my daugtrer's address not mine. Should they have had a court order to remove my grandaughter from
my home since she was in no danger?

You and your daughter should consult an attorney, and be prepared to go to Court to get the girl back. Can you take your granddaughter and raise her, at this point? Is there a history of harm to her or any other children of your daughter?
