Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Can I request funds to set up a new household?

I was married last April to man who has deceivecd me in many areas. He has many health issues that I was not informed of. He takes several medicaitons that were concealed from me. He is angry and bullies me. He wakes me up in the middle of night. I am teacher, moved from a nice rental, and left a job of 11 years as we were supposed to be relocating. We have not moved and I am being emotionally taunted. I am currently looking for a job and want to leave. I have given up most of my things to live in his home. He traded in my car on another vehicle that is in his name. I will have to start all over in my career, and find a place to live and get a car. I am going to counseling to document how difficult my situaiton is and will continue to go. My husband is a business professional with a substantial income ($250,000.)and position. He has isolated me from friends and family and I must get out of this situation. I want to be smart about this and need some advise. I am not looking for any long term support or to a claim in anything that is not mine. I want to be able to have a life that resembles what I had before. Is it unreasonable to request $15,000 or $20,000 to start my life over? Thank you.

A brief marriage such as yours does not give rise to entitlement to alimony but you are entitled to short term support based on "necessity"; you are financially needy as a consequence of his representations and he is very well able to support you for six months or so until you can get back on your feet financially.

I think you should look at your whole situation, and at the very least seek to be restored to your former status. No advice over the internet is appropriate nor helpful for you, I strongly suggest you find a divorce attorney located near you and get some solid advice based upon all of the facts.

You can contact me through the information provided below my name. I would be happy to assist you.
