Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I have residential custody and the father has parenting time. We originally split up when the child was 1. She was 12 when we got the custody order. The order was due to father not consistant on when he was taking child and arguments that came from that. The agreement was made through mediation. Father now gets 4 wks in summer he didn't get before and holidays every other year (which is different because she's always waken up on christmas at my house since we split when she was 1). Now i found out he is planning to take off for 2 years to go sail around the world on a boat he bought w/ money he got from suing his old job. If he leaves for 2 years he will not see his daughter. if he does that is there a way to modify the order w/out him being here to get less parenting time for when he comes back like just every other weekend since he is basically abondining his child for 2 years.

Obviously, if he will not see the child for 2 years, this would dictate changes in your existing Order. I would suggest that you immediately file a Motion, before he leaves, to set up the new child support order and custodial rights.
