Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Restraining order

I put a temporary restraining order against my ex boyfriend, I have a court date tomorrow to make it permanent, will I get in trouble if I don't show up?

Re: Restraining order

I agree that you should appear and tell the Court you no longer want to proceed. If you really want to drop it, and cannot appear, try calling the court immediately and telling them so they have a heads up. They still might require a personal appearance to drop it.

I would be happy to follow up with you. Please email me directly or call my office if you would like to schedule an appointment either in person or by telephone. My contact information is listed in the links below.

Re: Restraining order

You will cause the case to be rescheduled. If you want to drop the restraining order you must go to the judge and tell thejudge.

Re: Restraining order

I see no reason not to show up. It could just delay everything. If you don't want to go forward, just tell the court.
