Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

separated - responsibility??

My husband and I have separated and have lived totally apart for 7 years. We are not divorced. Own no joint property. Do not receive any money from each other for anything. Our children are adults. He is now ill with what may be a long term illness/disability. Will I be responsible for any of his medical expenses or his living expenses should he need assisted living? He is retired and collects SS.

Re: separated - responsibility??

It seems that your marriage has been factually desd, although not legally dead, for some time. I would suggest to you that you obtain a divorce to avoid anyone seeking to collect from you for his bills.

Call me if you like.
