Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
I have been seperated from my husband since April 2008 at which time I left the home under the advice of a legal aid social worker, after losing the final restraining order hearing, for my safety. We own a senior co-op which he continues to live in but has not paid the maitenance fees which has caused the co-op office to take legal action to take possesion of the unit. I have been in contact with the office, which has my phone number and current address. I was called today and told that their had been a court date (which I was not informed of till after the date) and the judge ordered my name be taken off the certificate and his daughters name be put on at which time she would pay all the back monies and pay all current fees. I was told this order was given after he was told that I was not able to be reached (my husband called me 11 days ago and left a message on my voice mail, which I did not return because I was told not to by the social worker), I assumed the co-op office and or attorney for them would have contacted me about the court date. I called the judges office and left a message with his law clerk to call me back to discuss this with me, that was this afternoon and I waiting for a return call. Is there anything I can do to stop this court order? I do not have money for an attorney otherwise I would have filed for a divorce and this would not be a issue right now.
