Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I'm seperated from my wife and she changed the locks

I recently seperated from my wife. Since then she won't let me see my daughter and she changed the locks on the house. I am fighting for joing physical custody and need to get an apartment, but I can't afford to pay the bills at the old house and provide a nice environment for my child. Am I responsible to keep paying the bills at the old house?

You raise several questions that cannot be fully answered here. Depending on why she changed the locks she may or may not be able to keep you out of the home. I would recommend filing an action to obtain custody and parenting time, and if she doesn't have a restraining order against you might want to call the police to assist in returning to the home.

I would be happy to follow up with you. Please email me directly or call my office if you would like to schedule an appointment either in person or by telephone. My contact information is listed in the links below.
