This situation is very common, sad as that is. Your sister needs a good lawyer to help her through this. I would be happy to speak with her (no charge) to see what is going on.

She should not take any action until she gets some legal advice. However, if she is being threatened or injured, she should call the police first, and me second.

Please call my office to make an appointment. This initial consultation for one half hour will be free of charge, and I will let you know what I believe I can do to assist you further.

She needs to consult with an attorney to determine whether the abuse rises to the level of domestic violence, justifying a restraining oder removing her husband from the house.

Call me if you like.

If she feels unsafe, she should not stay where she is and speak with an attorney regarding obtaining a restraining order.

Generally, she will not be giving uop her right to share in the equity of her home if she leaves, but she really should speak with an attorney prior to doing so to explain the complete facts of her situation. Please have her contact my office to discuss this matter further. I can be reached at 732-663-1500. Mention"Law Guru" and I will waive my consultation fee.

Thank you.
