Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My sons father owes me back child support and just received a settlement that exceeds what he owes me in child support. How long does the lawyer have before he has to submitt the money to my child support agency?

You correctly understand the law. The lawyer has to do a child support search and pay any outstanding child support arrearages from the net proceeds of the claim. I would be vigilant and

remind the lawyer of his obligation because when the money is gone you will have to get involved in a lawsuit against the lawyer when you just want the money.
