out of state divorce

Husband filed for divorce (I rec'd papers) from state of florida. Do I need a florida atty or can I hire NJ lawyer. Only 14 days left to responsd

It looks like he filed in Florida, however, have you ever been a resident of Florida? If not, how do they hav jurisdiction? You might need both a FL and NJ attorneys.

But with what court did he file? What do the papers say? It doesn't matter where is as much as it matters where the court is. If he filed in Florida, you need a Florida attoreny. If he filed in NJ, you need a NJ attorney.
