Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
In the State of NJ if a divorce action has been filed, can the plaintiff slow down the process asking for more time to consider alternative choices such as counseling...?

Once a divorce action has been filed, there is a presumption that the plaintiff wants to be divorced. If such is not the case, then a court will likely dismiss the action. Court's take issue with using them as a place holder while a plaintiff decides if he/she really want judicial intervention.
Maybe yes and maybe no. It depends on the complexity of the case's issues.
Call me if you like.
Courts always encourage mediation and counselling----Lawyers are also encouraged to promote reconciliation if it is possible
In What county is the divorce pending?
