Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Next Steps for Divorce

I just need to know my next steps for my divorce because I filed the papers for a non contested and the defendant missed the default. They filed a motion which was granted to submitt their counter claim because the defendant has money to hire a lawyer while I struggle just to make ends meet. I'm going to submitt my counter claim to their counterclaim to defend my claim. I don't have any money to hire a lawyer and there are no kids or property. What are my next steps that I should be following after my counter claim has been submitted? I wll look forward to hearing from. Thank you so much for your time.

I would also recommend that you hire an attorney to assist you in this matter. These matters are complicated and have time and pleading requirements.

Because you do not submit a claim to their counterclaim, you have to file an answer to their counterclaim. The court will then schedule the matter for a case management conference. During this conference, the court will set a schedule for discovery and other issues that may be relevant to your matter.

I would be happy to follow up with you. Please email me directly or call my office if you would like to schedule an appointment either in person or by telephone. My contact information is listed in the links below.

You need to contact the county bar association for a referral or call the county legal services office for assistance. You can not do this thing yourself.
