Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Ex is now trying to stop child support until I pay him $$

My ex and I shared a joint a/c for 2 yrs. after divorce. He willing paid for repairs to my home (some out of the joint a/c, some on his own) and did not want for me to pay him back. Now he wants me to pay him back and says he will withhold child support until I do so. Can he do this? He also says he will deny having agreed for me not to pay him back and stick to our divorce decree.

Re: Ex is now trying to stop child support until I pay him $$

He must comply with the existing child support order until there is another order excusing him from paying child support. If he wants a credit for what he claims you owe him he must sue you and even then he must continue to pay child support because he must support the child even if you owe him a million dollars. The child will not be allowed to starve because the mother owes money to the father who pays child support.

If he wants to terminate or reduce alimony payments he must apply to the court, first, and if he makes an adequate showing of proof he might get what he wants.'
