Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Stuck in a Rut

My wife and I have been married for 9 years. I want out but she doesn't. We have no children and have seperate accounts and only share the apartment and some bills. She has a better job than me so I really have no funds for a lawyer. She has done things like gps my phone and spyware on the computer. She refuses to let me talk to anyone (family or friends) and basically stalks me. I have been unfaithful 3 times before but I now realize it's because I don't want this anymor e- we married young (19). She is threatening to sue me if I leave (for rent and bills), she harrasses me and coworkers at the job, and she is trying to get me fired (calling my boss). What are my steps- what can I do? How long would a divorce from someone who doesn't want one take? Can she really sue me? How much could this cost? Can she keep me stuck married? I live in NJ but can I file in NY (we married there and I want to move there- I can't live near her)?

Re: Stuck in a Rut

1) She cannot stop you from getting a divorce.

2) If you have little or no $ you might be able to get her to pay your counsel fees.

3) She may have some invasion of privacy problems.

4) If she makes more $ than you, it is unlikely that she would get support from you.

5) You can seek counsel who will advise how long a divorce can take and the estimated cost.

6) It looks like NJ would be the place to bring suit.
