Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

substitution of attorney

I had written a letter to my lawyer and told him that I no longer wish him represent me in my divorce case. If the lawyer doesn't sign the substitution of attorney and appear at the the court for Early Settlement Panel discussion. Am I responsible for the fee for him appear in the court?

Re: substitution of attorney

Once a substitution of attorney is filed with the court the attorney has no responsibility to represent you and should not appear. If you are substituting as you own attorney you will have to represent yourself.
