Terminating parental rights for 19 yesr old

Can I legally terminate a relationship/ financial responsibilities for my daughter who is 19. She does not want to see me but her mom is asking for 50k for college. They left NJ for MO than PA, I haven't sen her for 10 years. I offered to help if she would end the alienation. Answer is no

You can not terminate parental rights, but you certainly want to talk to a divorce attorney before paying a dime for college. You have not said whether you ever married her mother, or divorced.

There is case law in New Jersey that says that if your child has no relationship with you, that you might not have to pay for college.

Under NJ law, you will have no luck ending your child support. However, you could get out of paying for college. I don't think you need an attorney yet, but you should still contact one to get a full understanding of what the situation is here. Feel free to call me.

If the estrangement and college was started without prior consultation there may be a chance to get out of college costs. It may also depend if they established residency in PA then you could have the child emancipated under the more reasonable PA laws. You should have a consult with a lawyer and may wish to seek PA counsel to take the offensive rather than wait.
