Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Termination of Child support or Continue to pay child support

I am currently paying child support to my ex-husband, we have two children together, our oldest son will be 18 in June and leaving for college in July. My other son is 17. the problem is that he does not use the money to support the kids, I have had to pay for his application fees, his fees/tuition and his senior class dues. I have made a court date to have either the child support terminated or even make my sons college a receiver of the money. My only concern is that if I pay child support that the money is used for the children. So far this month he has received two checks and has not used any of the money for our kids. Please help and let me know what can or if I can do anything.

You may do better (and certainly will avoid delays) if you hire an attorney. You seem to be taking action in the right direction, but I do not have enough information to advise as to what else you could do.

If you would like me to assist, please call my office. I am in Hackensack. A half hour consultation will be $75.00. You can then decide how you would like to proceed.

My contact information can be obtained from the links below, just click on the Attorney Profile link. Let my secretary know you found me through LawGuru.

When you begin to pay for room and board at college the child support should be reduced to reflect this form of child support and the fact that the child will be at hom only three months a year.

Call me if you like.
