Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Termination of Parental Rights

My daughter's father has a previous, maybe current heroin problem. He has not paid child support in a year and a half, (she is only 2). He has not seen her in 1 1/2 years and had no contact for over 1 year. Now he wants to mail money and start seeing her (he lives 9 hours away). He has contacted me so I can't file for abandonment I heard, but she doesn't even know him. Is there anyway I can't fight him to sign over his rights. He has already refused.

Re: Termination of Parental Rights

If he has not acted consistent with his role as a parent for that kind of time, he will have a difficult time re-establishing his parenting rights. Don't start accepting child support from him now, if you want to maintain your position as strong as it currently is.
