Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Trouble with Ex-husband
I have 3 children, 17, 16 and 13. My ex-husband knew a month before I found out that my 17 yr had done heroin, cocaine, and other things. I am furious for him not telling me, I would have had my son in treatment already. I want to know if there is anything I can do. After grounding my oldest son, my ex-husband slept at his girlfriends house with my youngest son, leaving the older 2 home alone while my 16 yr old also had a friend over. Even though they are of age, I feel this is so irresponsible with everything going on. Is there anything I can do? I worry about my sons, and he STILL hasn't signed my son up for drug counseling even though he promised he would. He has almost 50% custody time, and I'm sorry I ever agreed to this when they were young, how about now? Should i do anything about it? I'm so confused about the right thing to do.

Re: Trouble with Ex-husband
You are describing serious problems which may cause harm to your children.
You could ask the Court to change the custody arrangements. The Judge will then consider what is best for the children, what is 'in the child's best intersts'. If the Judge decides that changes are needed, the Judge will order such changes.
