Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Is it true that my marriage can be annulled if we have not been married for one year? If so how do I go about doing so?

This is not true. There are very narrow requirements for an annullment in NJ. You would obtain one by having a Complaint filed and then ultimately attempting to prove a cause of action for annullment.

Keep in mind that this information is given based on the scanty facts that you have provided. And no one can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. In order to be able to rely upon any advice, you need to meet with and retain an attorney, who will be able to give you advice after a full and comprehensive interview. Before you do anything, you should contact an attorney for a full consultation. Good Luck! Rob Gleaner

An annulment means that there was no marriage due to some lack of mutuality of intent

and/or lack of candor. It is founded in the historical reality that marriage is essentially a contract between two people. It is not how long you are married that entitles one to an '

annulment.

Call me if you.
