Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
unfair judge
What recourse do we have against a judge we beleive to be unfair and unjust. When I went to my first child support hearing my husband quit a job without warning. stopped health insurance for me and my children. At the hearing the judge reduced his child support for 60 days and did not say anything about health insurance. he encouraged me to try and get state insurance for which i was denied except for my daughter. now fast forward 7 months, my husband asks for reduction in child support and emancipation of my son. the college provides my son is a full time student and orders health insurance reinstated. Now again no hearing just a new order in the mail the judge revokes the health insurance order and asks for proof as of today my son is a full time student. he now wants new 2006 w'2s and paystubs to re calculate the support. my husband took a low paying job and i make 10,000 more since the first court date. however i now pay 6000 in health insurance for me and my daughter. willl the court consider this or just lower his support? and i never want to go before this judge again and the first hearing he said my husband did not have to pay any college. What happened why a new order without a hearing? I dont understand.

Re: unfair judge
Did you have an attorney or were you in court without one?
Call me if you like.

Re: unfair judge
I suspect that the judge was not unfair. It appears to me that the judge was not getting the full picture, because it was not being presented properly. It is pretty common for people who go to Court unrepresented to get a bad result and then blame the Judge.
I always use this analogy: Would you perform heart surgery on yourself if you had a problem with your heart? Of course not. Then why would you go to Court by yourself to resolve a legal issue?
Keep in mind that this advice is given based on the little bit of information that you have
provided in your question. My advice may change based on other information. Further, no one
can rely on advice from an attorney who has not been retained. You cannot rely on this advice
because we have not personally met and you have not retained me as an attorney. If you have not
already done so, you should immediately meet with an attorney for a full consultation before you
take any further steps. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
