Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Unsure, Unaware if Divorced/child custudy
Over 18 mnts ago joint divorce actions were filed by my spouse and I, the children (now 18 & 16) remained in NJ with their father, I moved to Oregon. Ultimatly I called the state of NJ court and was informed that the actions were dismissed due to lack of action on both parties. Last week I went to NJ and my ''spouse'' informed my 16 year-old that he had been granted full custody of her and I was not allowed, by law to visit her UNSUPERVISED. Also claimed I had been removed from the deed of the family home. Since he will not communicate with me, how do I find out if any such orders were filed, and why was I not notified. He DOES know my address and phone numbers. Thank you.

Check with the court where you filed for divorce. Also check with the registry of deeds for your county. Contact an attorney if you intend to file for divorce or modify any custody orders or arrangements.

Call the Family Division Manager for the County where you were living in New Jersey to look up your file for a status. See if any other actions were filed. The county clerk where the property is located can tell you if any new deeds have been filed. If you need help before or after this, you may call our office or call an attorney in the county where the property is located.

The court would have a copy of all relevant court
orders.
